Cohen’s Fashion Optical is a New York retail landmark. It is a business concept that has survived for over 90 years. The innovative vision of our founder, Jack Cohen, has set our Company on a course of steady, reliable growth. Jack Cohen pioneered the concept of the retail eye care store. His vision was that he would provide the best quality service and value to everyone who needed prescription eye care. He began in the early 1920’s with a pushcart along New York’s famous Orchard Street and quickly grew his business into a storefront operation. In 1967, the second store was opened at Kings Plaza in Brooklyn, New York and the Company commenced a franchise expansion and penetration into new markets. Cohen’s Fashion Optical began as a family business and has remained a family-run business. Today, there are over 100 Cohen’s Fashion Optical stores.
