Hours:

  • Full Time
  • Our offices are open from Monday-Friday 6:30am-5:30pm.

    • Your shifts will fall within these hours.
    • You may need to work a little earlier/later as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Quality Manager is responsible for providing administrative support to ensure that clinical services
are delivered in a high quality and efficient manner and comply with government regulations and
contractual obligations.

SUPERVISION

The Quality Manager reports to the Executive Director and has no supervisory responsibility.

DUTIES

  • Electronic Health Record (EHR)

    • Integrate the EHR into the clinical workflow in a value-added manner.
    • Serve as the EHR super-user, providing training and technical assistance to end users.
    • Provide liaison with EHR vendors and other entities that support and access the EHR.
    • Maintain EHR system configuration, templates, and library of user guides and protocols.
    • Troubleshoot minor EHR problems and works with vendors to solve more complex problems.
    • Test and validate all EHR system changes prior to implementation.
    • Recommends upgrades and modifications to keep the EHR up-to-date.
    • Recommends equipment and connectivity to maintain EHR reliability and performance.
  • Alternative Payment Models (APMs)

    • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of government mandated APMs.
    • Recommend activities to deliver high-quality, cost-efficient care under APMs.
    • Track and report practice performance required by APMs.
    • Provide education to staff on how to meet the requirements of APMs.
    • Submit reports and attestations that may be required by APMs.
  • Coding and Documentation

    • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of coding and documentation for retina services.
    • Serve as the practices coding and documentation specialist.
    • Provide staff training and technical assistance on coding and documentation.
    • Develop and maintain a plan and processes to ensure accurate coding and documentation.
    • Provide liaison with a coding and documentation consultant for technical assistance.
    • Implement chart auditing with the involvement of Technicians.
    • Meet on a regular basis with Physicians and Technicians to review chart audit results.
    • Receive denial information related to coding and documentation from the billing staff, provide feedback to Physicians and staff, and take corrective action, including staff training and structural changes to avoid future denials.
  • Billable Drugs

    • Maintain an electronic drug inventory system and oversee its use.
    • Integrate the electronic drug inventory system with the electronic practice management to
      ensure that drugs are billed correctly.
    • Integrate the electronic drug inventory system with drug ordering and receipt of orders.
    • Integrate the electronic drug inventory system with the practice accounting system to ensure that drugs are paid correctly.
    • Create and provide period reports from the drug inventory system as requested by
    • Set up new drugs and drug suppliers in the electronic drug inventory system.
    • Manage sample and replacement drugs.
    • Arrange for prior authorization of special drugs and drops.
  • Clinical Administration

    • Manage the patient portal.
    • Manage service contracts for clinical equipment, provide liaison with clinical equipment
      maintenance vendors, and initiate orders for maintenance and repair.
    • Manage the purchase, installation, and training for all new equipment.
    • Prepare letters of medical necessity and legal blindness as requested.
    • Oversee the ordering of outside diagnostics tests to ensure timely delivery and accurate entry into the medical record.
    • Develop, update, and maintain a library of clinical forms and consents.
    • Develop, update, and maintain clinical policies, procedures, protocols, and work processes.
    • Provide periodic quality, compliance, and incident reports to the Medical Director as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
    Bachelors degree with a major in a healthcare discipline is preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the equivalent level of knowledge and skill.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a similar position, preferably in a physician practice, is required
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft office software and comfortable working with information systems.
  • Favorable result on background check required.
  • Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States.
